Italic Calligraphy is the lettering style of the Renaissance, used by the scribes of the Church. This twenty hour class will be held in five Saturday sessions and is designed for students with no previous experience in calligraphy. Left handed students are especially welcome. The class will start with basic pen strokes that are combined to form the letters of this beautiful script, and students will letter a finished quotation by the end of the class. Students are expected to practice and complete small projects outside of class. All supplies (pens, ink, paper, handouts, etc.) are included in the $80 registration fee. Dave is available for make-up sessions, and previous students may attend any future sessions of Beginning Italic at no charge. Students are welcome to bring snacks or lunch to the class. Wear comfortable, old clothes. Call Dave at 392-6679 if you have any questions.
Dave has been President of the Idaho Inkspots Calligraphy Guild for nine terms, and served as a Board member of the Association for the Calligraphic Arts for three years. He was a featured artist at First Night Boise for four years, and has exhibited his photography in the Idaho Centennial’s “Photographic Visions” exhibit and in Photography Forum magazine’s “Best of Photography” Annual. In 2004 he had two of his handmade books in the “Booker’s Dozen” exhibit by the Idaho Center for the Book. Class Sign-Up Policy
We want you to attend our classes, learn new techniques, get great customer service and have a great time!
However, as a courtesy to our staff and the class teachers, please call at least 24 hours in advance to reserve your spot. Calling ahead to reserve your spot in one of our classes enables us to offer you better customer service. Teachers do have class preparations, even for a free class. For most of our paid classes, teacher pay for their own class supplies so they don’t make extra kits for walk-in students. We do have teachers who live outside the Treasure Valley and they call in advance of the class to find out how many are attending and cancel the class if attendance is below their class minimum.
If you can’t call 24 hours in advance, please call ahead to confirm that the class hasn’t been canceled and that the teacher does have enough supplies ready for walk-in students. Please don’t assume that just because a class has been scheduled that it hasn’t been canceled or that a teacher is prepared for walk-in students.
Thank you for understanding.
